The Long Form Story About Me
A seasoned leader with 25+ years in advertising and design, I specialize in experience design and emerging technologies. After navigating various roles within small private companies and large global firms, I’ve spent the past five years involved with two startup companies, enriching my expertise in organizational leadership, talent development, creative direction, brand building, and client management. I thrive in diverse environments and have extensive experience in Travel & Hospitality, Automotive, Finance, Insurance, and Sports & Entertainment.
I also play golf to a scratch handicap.
I am currently Chief Creative Officer at Oh Hi, Hello (You can say “OHH.” And yes, that is our name). Founded in 2020, OHH is a creative collective formed by some of the industry's most talented senior-level creative experts. The collective model allows for creative freedom, incredibly efficient ways of working, and close client interactions. The autonomy provided to all in the collective is empowering. As Chief Creative Officer, I am responsible for overall creative leadership, brand strategy & storytelling, and new business.
Prior to Oh Hi, Hello, I was Chief Creative Officer for a wonderful creative consultancy called GlueIQ. Born from a collection of ex-Sapient creatives, GlueIQ broke the mold for what once were traditional creative agencies. In my time at Glue, we grew from three people to over 70 and billings of ~$14mm USD. I oversaw all creative across accounts that spanned automotive, travel & tourism, financial services, consumer product goods, and more.
As Glue was forming, I also became the Chief Creative & Marketing Officer of a groundbreaking insuretech/fintech startup called Buckle. Buckle aimed to disrupt the shared economy by offering financial products and services designed specifically for its needs. We pioneered a first-of-its-kind rating system that offered fairer insurance premiums to Uber and Lyft drivers based on their driving behavior, not their credit score. This innovative approach aimed to eliminate bias against individuals residing in less-affluent areas. As the first full-time employee and head of all things creative I spearheaded the development of the Buckle brand from the ground up and played a key role in securing Series A and B funding ($91 million). However, the global pandemic significantly impacted Buckle as the rideshare industry experienced an 85% decline during quarantine, ultimately forcing the company to dissolve the rideshare initiative.
In 2017 a private equity firm recruited me as the Chief Creative Officer of PureRed. My mission was to amplify their creative offerings by integrating digital capabilities, campaign-driven experiences, and a focus on general experience design. I led a team of roughly 100 creatives across various US offices. While my time at PureRed was short due to the opportunity to build Buckle, it proved to be a valuable learning experience.
Before PureRed, I was a Group Vice President / Executive Creative Director at Sapient (AKA Sapient, SapientNitro & SapientRazorfish) where I spent 11 rewarding years witnessing the company’s journey from weathering the DotCom bust to reclaiming its position as a global creative and technology powerhouse. Joining as a Creative Director in 2006, I steadily climbed the ranks, achieving the position of Head of Experience for North America in 2016. During my tenure, I lead teams that designed the Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine interface, led the relaunch of NASCAR.com, and revitalized and relaunched Unilever’s AXE brand while serving as head of creative for Sapient’s London office.
I have been very fortunate in my career thus far to have been recognized by several industry awards. Those include: Clio, Cannes Lions, ECHO, AdTech, How Magazine, and CASIE. I have also judged numerous award shows including the 2013 & 2014 Cannes Young Lions. Along with judging, I have spoken at several conferences including SXSW and Kyoorius Designyatra (one of the world’s biggest and best annual conferences on design in creativity, held in India).
